| Praia del Rey (££) |
7113 yds Par 72
|
| Located approximately one hour's drive north
of Lisbon, Praia d'el Rey is a course not to be missed.
With a great mixture of tree-lined and links style holes
that run alongside the Atlantic Ocean (just like Pebble
Beach) we guarantee Praia d'el Rey once played will not
be forgotten. After several holes running along the shallow
cliff top the course swings back into the forest for 4
wonderful golf holes before returning to the coast for
the magnificent final 9 holes. |
|
| Quinta da Beloura (£) |
6466 yds Par 72
|
| The Quinta da Beloura course is fairly flat
and so provides a pleasurable but not too taxing a challenge.
The course enjoys excellent views over the Sintra mountain
range with water features on seven of the eighteen holes
and is more suited to the medium to high handicap golfer. |
|
| Quinta da Marinha (££) |
6430 yds Par 72
|
| The second course on the Quinta Da Marinha
Golf Resort is an interesting test with its numerous large
water hazards and small well-bunkered target greens. Re-furbished
in 1999 / 2000 the course has since hosted the 2002 Estoril
Open. It is an enjoyable resort course suitable for golfers
of all abilities with a particularly interesting par 3
sixteenth over a ravine. Parkland in nature the Quinta
da Marinha course is pleasantly walkable for those golfers
looking to avoid the use of buggies. |
|
| Golden Eagle (£) |
6600 yds par 72
|
| Opened in 1998 and recently under new management,
the Golden Eagle (formerly Quinta do Brincal) course is
now much improved on the original layout. Situated an
hour's drive north of Lisbon the rolling terrain, abundance
of bunkers and water hazards provide an interesting and
reasonably priced round. Well worth the journey, a buggy
here will probably enhance your enjoyment of this excellent
course. |
|
| Quinta do Peru (£) |
6642 yds Par 72
|
| Situated on a country estate, this parkland
course has pine and cork trees lining the fairways, with
large water hazards and greens of the very best quality.
Rocky Roquemore designed the course to make the best use
of the natural countryside and he has achieved this by
providing a challenging golf course with wonderful scenery. |
|
| Ribagolfe (£) |
Ribagolfe I 7378 yds par 72
Ribagolfe II 6835 yds par 72
|
| Opened in 2004 and only a 45 minute drive
from the centre of Lisbon Ribagolfe have produced two
great additions to the Lisbon golf scene. Ribagolfe I
is the longer of the two and designed as a championship
golf course, winding its way around the outside of the
second course, Riba II. Ribagolfe II is much more designed
as a resort course and is slightly shorter. Holes 6 and
13 are two challenging par 5's with a river and lakes
coming into play on both. The courses are easily walkable,
terrific value and should be considered well worth a visit.
Santo Estevao (£) 6382 yds par 73 This new course
is situated on the brand new residential and tourist area
of Vila Nova de Santo Estevao. The course is typical of
many Portuguese designs incorporating wooded countryside,
with many cork-oak trees and wide-open fairways. |

| Troia (££) |
6631 yds par 72
|
| Troia is an interesting and challenging
course with a mixture of links and parkland style holes.
The course has several holes running along the foreshore
and this and the sandy sub-soil combine to give the course
its links type feel. A day out at Troia is a real treat
as your journey in both directions includes a short (20-minute)
ferry ride from Setabul. |
|
| Lisbon Sports Club (£) |
5700 yds par 69
|
| Just 20km from Lisbon and Cascais, the Lisbon
Sports Club course may be on the short side, but still
provides a challenging round. Set amidst hills and valleys
with narrow, tree-lined fairways, it offers excellent
value for what is a very reasonable green fee. |
