DAY 1 |
| |
am - depart UK for your mid morning flight to Charlotte
pm - arrive Charlotte, North Carolina and pick up your hire car for the one hour drive to the Lake Lure Golf and Beach Resort in the Smokie/Blue Ridge Mountains. After arrival at your self-catering fairway villa/apartment enjoy a drink and meal overlooking the Carolina's largest manmade lake - Lake Lure. Surrounded by towering forests a sunset over the Smokies is a memory that will linger forever.

DAY 2 |

am - after breakfast in the clubhouse enjoy a round on one of the resorts two spectacular courses - Bald Mountain or Apple Valley, both as enjoyable as the other. Bald Mountain is the more hilly whilst Apple Valley has some flatter holes winding through the mountain meadows.
pm - relax and enjoy an evening at the Lake Lure Restaurant and Lounge.

DAY 3 |

am - much as Day 2 only play the other course - we know you will enjoy it.
pm - take a 10/15 minute drive and try out one of the local lakeside restaurants. You will be sure of a warm welcome - they do not see many Brits in this part of the Carolinas - remember "Deliverance?".

DAY 4 |

am/pm - maybe take a rest from the golf? There are numerous options, the favourite being a day at the Biltmore Estate, Asheville. Nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina the 250 room French Chateau is America's largest private home. Built in 1895 a tour through the 34 bedrooms, 43 bathrooms and numerous dining rooms, laden with art and antiques will give you a unique insight into the Vanderbilts luxury lifestyle.
Apart from the fabulous house there are 250 acres of landscaped gardens, the estate winery with 8 shops offering a selection of wines and products of the estate's farms. There are also four restaurants including the Winery Bistro to choose from. If you have any time left take a trip into nearby Asheville where you will find a variety of shopping and fine restaurants in this quaint mountain town.

DAY 5 |

am - take the short drive to Chimney Rock and Hickory Nut Gorge. A lift will take you 26 storeys through solid rock to the peak of Chimney Rock. Here you will have spectacular view of 50 or so miles over the Blue Ridge Mountains and deep blue lakes.
pm - Golf at Reems Creek in Weaverville just 10 minutes drive from Asheville Reems Creek golf course is a truly hidden gem. Picturesque lakes, panoramic views, play it in October/November with the fall colours and golf will never be the same again.

DAY 6 |

am/pm - your last full day at Lake Lure Golf and Beach Resort - play your favourite course again and then relax and enjoy a final evening in this unique and engaging mountain retreat. |

DAY 7 |

am - after your final breakfast overlooking Lake Lure set off for historical Charleston approximately a 4/5-hour drive through the Carolina countryside.
pm - settle in at your chosen Charleston accommodation and take an initial look round one of the USA's most charming cities.

DAY 8 |

am - after a typical southern breakfast of grits (!), smoked ham and hash browns head off for a round of golf on one of the areas 20 or so superb golf courses.
pm - take an early evening guided tour on one of the city's horse-drawn carriages through narrow cobbled streets and wide tree lined avenues with mile after mile of pillared mansions - this is "Gone with the Wind" country. After watching the sunset over Fort Sumter in the river estuary enjoy a meal in one of Charleston's renowned eateries, famed for their southern style cooking and exotic seafood dishes. Charleston was recently voted the friendliest city in the USA and one of the best three golfing destinations in the USA - need we say more.

DAYS 9 |

am - take a stroll through historic Charleston and enjoy the huge variety of shopping the town has to offer. At weekends the local market is full of stallholders selling produce from the local farms, potteries etc.
pm - take a drive out to one of the many barrier islands within easy reach of Charleston, Kiawah Island host to the 1991 Ryder Cup, with four courses that offer a quality of golf you will find hard to beat anywhere in the world. Or to the north the Isle of Palms where Wild Dunes Links is regularly featured in the USA's top 50 courses.

DAY 10 |

am - a final round on one of Charleston's many enjoyable courses. Take a tour around one of the many historical homes and gardens or a ferry trip to Fort Sumter where the first shots of the American City War were fired.
pm - in the evening enjoy a special meal before taking a last stroll around this enchanting city.

DAY 11 |
| |
am - before heading for home maybe an hour or two of last minute shopping. Then it is either a choice of dropping the car off at Charleston airport or taking a leisurely drive back to Charlotte for your early evening flight to London. |

am - arrive London 8-9 am. |
