Myrtle Beach golf courses are roughly divided into three categories:-

Non Surcharge Courses : Silver
Very enjoyable challenging courses thatwill test golfers of all abilities. All have their fair share of water and bunkers, and are well looked after and designed. Good examples are Colonial Charters, River Hills, Panthers Run and Sandpiper Bay

Surcharge Courses : Gold
Are excellently designed and manicured. They offer golf of an extremely high standard and we recommend that, for serious golfers, you should sample at least a couple of these during your stay. Oyster Bay, the Heritage courses and Wildwing are prime examples of these.

Premier Courses : Platinum
Amongst the finest golf courses you will find anywhere. Strictly for the connoisseur, you will find the extra cost well worthwhile and the memories will last a long time. Caledonia, True Blue, Barefoot and Tidewater are numbered amongst these.

Please remember, we can book any course you require at Myrtle Beach should you have a specific requirement, however a higher green fee does not necessarily mean a higher level of enjoyment.Tee times are pre-booked. The busy time for Myrtle Beach courses is from Septemer to May, so please try to book early to ensure your preferred times can be reserved.

We recommend that you arrive an hour or so before tee-off to take advantage of the superb practice facilities on offer at the courses.

Golf Carts are compulsory on all courses in Myrtle Beach and are included in the cost of your holiday.

Eagle's Favourite ten Myrtle Beach area Silver (Non Surcharge) Courses £

Aberdeen Country Club (£):
(Formerly Buck Creek) features 27 holes made up of 3 distinctive 9's. Many of the holes bring water into play as the courses are built around a natural wetland preserve. There are wide landing areas but accuracy is a key. You might need to take a few balls.

Arcadian Shores (£):
One of the most centrally located courses in Myrtle Beach and until recently a Gold course. The course winds through clusters of oak trees and natural lakes and has 64 bunkers just to add a bit of spice. In 2001 hole Nos. 2 and 13 were voted a part of the Myrtle Beach "Dream 18". A typical Carolina course and great value

Brick Landing Plantation (£):
Built along the intercoastal waterway this course has everything. Fabulous ocean views, and holes that meander along the waterway and through hardwood forests and scenic saltwater marshes. Four sets of tees make this an interesting challenge for all levels of golfer.

Diamond Back (£):
A relatively new course and a bit of a drive out of Myrtle Beach but one that is well worth it. Designed around unspoiled natural wetlands and lowcountry forest, it features strategically placed bunkers and lakes that make for a challenging round of golf

Indigo Creek (£):
Conveniently situated in South Myrtle Beach, this is an exciting course with a significant number of doglegs. Water and trees come into play everywhere, especially on the back nine, which is set among giant oaks and winding creeks. A good fun course.

Panthers Run (£):
A tremendously scenic and visually interesting course with many changes of elevation as it winds along the edge of a nature reserve. There are wide fairways that have many slopes giving you a variety of lies as you try and stay out of or hit over the surrounding marsh land or water hazards

Pearl Eas (£)t:
In our view one of the very best "Non Surcharge" courses in Myrtle Beach as every hole is a good golf hole. Built upon a 900-acre marsh preserve and completely renovated in 1999, it carves through a pristine spruce forest and has two fabulous finishing holes that run alongside the Calabash River. A great finish to a fine golf course.

Possum Tro (£)t:
Known as "The Friendly Course", you will find the staff ensures that it lives up to it's reputation. It was built to give the average golfer a pleasantly challenging, but not threatening round of golf and its wide fairways, with creatively placed bunkers and water hazards certainly achieve this.

River Hills (£):
Quietly nestled among densely wooded terrain and rolling hills this is a visually stunning course. Frequent elevation changes and clever placement of water creates a challenge that will see you reaching for every club in your bag. The recently renovated, colonial style clubhouse makes for a great "19th."

Sandpiper Bay (£):
Now a 27 hole layout, but if you play the original 18 you get a rarity, with 6 par 3's, 6 par 4's and 6 par 5's. The regular tees are situated to give mid to high handicappers an enjoyable round with plenty of birdie opportunities, while the back tees will challenge the low handicappers. There is lots of water around as well, just to keep your attention.

Eagle's Favourite five Myrtle Beach area Gold (Surcharge) Courses ££

Heather Glen (££):
Your chance to play in South and North Carolina all on one course. Fabulous 27 hole layout with fairways cut through ancient oaks and towering pines, and some fairly expansive bunkers, make this a challenging but enjoyable test of golf. Our clients who play "the Glen" usually want to go back for more.

Heritage (££):
Welcome to some South Carolina history. Built on two historic plantations with over 600 acres of giant magnolias, 300-year old oaks, fresh water lakes and the winding Waccamaw River. It is a breathtaking layout, but be sure to keep your concentration because as beautiful as it is, it still has the ability to bite.

Long Bay Club (££):
A Jack Nicklaus "signature course" but not a typical Nicklaus design. The course has deep pot bunkers, vast waste areas and well protected greens that make it a very difficult challenge and is definitely not a course for high handicap players. Some of our clients think it is a great course, others just think it's a bit tough.

Oyster Bay (££):
This is right at the top of our "must play" list for golfers of all standards. 18 brilliant holes of golf, with natural water hazards in play on 15 of them, including two par 3's with island greens. Four sets of tees ensure that every golfer has a chance. Enough said, take your camera, enjoy and look out for the "gators" around the 14th green.

Pawleys Plantation (££):
Terrific lowcountry design by Jack Nicklaus that utilises best what Mother Nature provided. Subtle greens make for tough putting but first you have to get to them and given the challenging fairways dotted with water and bunker placement, concentration is a must. Not necessarily recommended for high handicappers.

Eagle's Favourite five Myrtle Beach area Platinum (Premium) Courses £££

Barefoot Resort (£££):
Four courses, all very different, and probably the best collection of new courses in Myrtle Beach. The Dye course is a great test of golf, the Fazio and Love courses are fabulous and can be enjoyed by golfers of all levels and the Norman course, with 7 holes along the Intercoastal Waterway is a supreme test of golf. Something for everyone here.

Dunes Club (£££):
A true Championship course having hosted a number of Senior US PGA events and a Women's US Open. A number of the holes run alongside the ocean and the facility is immaculately maintained. Just a wonderful course but as you would expect from a course that has hosted PGA tournaments, expect a real challenge to your golfing skills.

Grand Dunes (£££):
Colossal course set on a bluff overlooking the Intercoastal Waterway that gives spectacular views. Colossal? Well the second set of tees measure 7,200 yards and the back tees over 7,600 yards. However, there are six sets of tees, wide fairways and large greens so this is a golfing experience to be enjoyed by all.

Tidewater (£££):
Just simply one of the best, absolutely magnificent. We can't say enough good things about this superb golf course set on Little River, with its holes meandering through the woods and marshes of Little River and the Intercoastal Waterway. Not cheap, but worth every penny so just go play it.

TPC of Myrtle Beach (£££):
Everything you would expect from a Tournament Players Club. Host to Senior PGA tournaments and an absolutely top quality design with five sets of tees that gives all of us a chance. Myrtle Beach needed a TPC course as the icing on the cake and now they have it, so do what we do, experience it and enjoy it.
