Eagle's Favourite ten Myrtle Beach area Silver (Non Surcharge) Courses £
Aberdeen Country Club (£):
(Formerly Buck Creek) features 27 holes made up of 3 distinctive 9's. Many of the holes bring water into play as the courses are built around a natural wetland preserve. There are wide landing areas but accuracy is a key. You might need to take a few balls.
Arcadian Shores (£):
One of the most centrally located courses in Myrtle Beach and until recently a Gold course. The course winds through clusters of oak trees and natural lakes and has 64 bunkers just to add a bit of spice. In 2001 hole Nos. 2 and 13 were voted a part of the Myrtle Beach "Dream 18". A typical Carolina course and great value
Brick Landing Plantation (£):
Built along the intercoastal waterway this course has everything. Fabulous ocean views, and holes that meander along the waterway and through hardwood forests and scenic saltwater marshes. Four sets of tees make this an interesting challenge for all levels of golfer.
Diamond Back (£):
A relatively new course and a bit of a drive out of Myrtle Beach but one that is well worth it. Designed around unspoiled natural wetlands and lowcountry forest, it features strategically placed bunkers and lakes that make for a challenging round of golf
Indigo Creek (£):
Conveniently situated in South Myrtle Beach, this is an exciting course with a significant number of doglegs. Water and trees come into play everywhere, especially on the back nine, which is set among giant oaks and winding creeks. A good fun course.
Panthers Run (£):
A tremendously scenic and visually interesting course with many changes of elevation as it winds along the edge of a nature reserve. There are wide fairways that have many slopes giving you a variety of lies as you try and stay out of or hit over the surrounding marsh land or water hazards
Pearl Eas (£)t:
In our view one of the very best "Non Surcharge" courses in Myrtle Beach as every hole is a good golf hole. Built upon a 900-acre marsh preserve and completely renovated in 1999, it carves through a pristine spruce forest and has two fabulous finishing holes that run alongside the Calabash River. A great finish to a fine golf course.
Possum Tro (£)t:
Known as "The Friendly Course", you will find the staff ensures that it lives up to it's reputation. It was built to give the average golfer a pleasantly challenging, but not threatening round of golf and its wide fairways, with creatively placed bunkers and water hazards certainly achieve this.
River Hills (£):
Quietly nestled among densely wooded terrain and rolling hills this is a visually stunning course. Frequent elevation changes and clever placement of water creates a challenge that will see you reaching for every club in your bag. The recently renovated, colonial style clubhouse makes for a great "19th."
Sandpiper Bay (£):
Now a 27 hole layout, but if you play the original 18 you get a rarity, with 6 par 3's, 6 par 4's and 6 par 5's. The regular tees are situated to give mid to high handicappers an enjoyable round with plenty of birdie opportunities, while the back tees will challenge the low handicappers. There is lots of water around as well, just to keep your attention.
