Nestled between the Santa Ynez mountains and the sparkling waters of the Pacific Ocean, Santa Barbara has something of a Mediterranean feel to it. As well as a vibrant nightlife, pristine beaches and a selection of great restaurants offering world wide cuisine, the Santa Ynez Valley is renowned for the quality of the locally produced wines.
With LA only an hour or so drive to the south and Monterey about the same to north, Santa Barbara is an ideal stopover on your tour along the BIG SUR.
As you would expect the area is not short on good golf courses, however one stands out as a must play and that is, SANDPIPER. With several holes running along the top of the low cliffs over looking the Pacific Ocean SANDPIPER regularly features in the top 10 of California courses.
Exposed to the cool winds off the Pacific Ocean the ideal time for golfers to visit this wonderful area of the California coast is from around mid May to late October
