Accommodation and Courses in RTJ Trail Auburn / Opelika
Being only a 90 minute or so drive from Atlanta airport the Grand National courses in the Auburn/Opelika area are the ideal first stop on the RTJ Trail. On site are two superb 18 hole courses, the Links and the Lakes and a short (3328 yard) 18 hole course considered to be the best short course in the States.
Only a short drive from the courses is the 4* Auburn Marriott Opelika Hotel and whilst the RTJ Trail does have Marriott and Renaissance Hotels close to all the trail courses there are other hotels available in the nearby University town of Auburn.
Climate wise it is advisable to do this northern area of the RTJ Trail between April and June or in October/November. This avoids the high temperatures and humidity that you can experience during the mid-summer months and the cooler months during winter when the dormant bermuda grass means the courses are not at their best.
