DUBAI - Golf at its Most Enjoyable
|
Eagle's Note on Dubai Golf -
All four courses in Dubai are thoroughly enjoyable. However,
the Majilis at the Emirates Club is an outstanding course
ranking with the best in the world. Costing around £65
a round, it represents unbelievable value
Tee Times in Dubai - Tee
times are shared between the members and tourists with different
days and time periods for each being pre-allocated. Due to
the ever-increasing demand for play by both residents and
visitors alike, it is strongly recommended that we pre-book
your times well before your date of travel
Golf Tuition - There couldn't
be a better place - to start or improve your golf, both the
Emirates and Dubai Creek Golf and Yacht Club have excellent
golf schools and practice facilities. We will be happy to
quote or enrolment in the various golf schools available.

Dubai Creek Golf and Yacht Club is Dubai's sporting oasis; a golf
and leisure haven surrounded by the city, a hallmark of service and
excellence. The magnificent clubhouse - its design mirroring the sails
of the traditional Arab Dhow - became an instant landmark when it opened
in 1993.
The club's 18-hole par 72 championship course rolls 6839 undulating
yards along well-groomed fairways lined with date and coconut palms
and shrubbery that lend a distinctly tropical air.

The first grass course in the Middle East, the Emirates Golf Club
has become a favourite of the world's top players. To the original 7101,
par 72 Majilis course has been added a second par 72 challenge, the
7100 yard Wadi course.
Both combine the natural rolling desert terrain designed with skill
for a serious test of golf. The Majilis course, with its lush fairways
and large greens is a formidable test of golf. The Wadi course, fully
opened in 1996, adds further interest, with superbly positioned water
hazards and desert rough.

The gently rolling landscape of the 6428 yard, par 71 Dubai Golf and
Racing Club is deceptive. The short holes over water allow little room
for error, while the par 5's make stringent demands to reach the green
safely; deep pot bunkers await the unwary, while eight lakes add further
attractive hazards.
The front nine is built inside the perimeter of Dubai's main racecourse
at Nad Al Sheba, home of the $4 million Dubai World Cup Horserace, while
the back nine, opened in 1996, runs alongside the "home straight".
Fully floodlit, this enjoyable and friendly golf course is designed
along the lines of a traditional Scottish links with pot bunkers sunk
into the greensides.
Emphasis is on accuracy, not length, but wind can be a factor on the
treeless landscape, especially in the afternoon. Elevated tees on the
back nine add to the experience, giving a good view of each hole.

Abu Dhabi Sheraton Golf Club
2 magnificent courses, the National and Garden, are desert golf at its
best.
The National is a Championship layout destined
to be one of the most talked about courses in the world. Host to the
PGA seniors tour desert classic, this unique course will test the skills
of all standards of golfer.
The Garden course is a more friendly par 72,
floodlit course, every bit as enjoyable as the National with the added
advantage that it can be played in the cooler nights under floodlights.
Water, trees and bunkers abound in both courses. |
