Cyprus
Introduction
Steeped in ancient history the sun-drenched island of Cyprus effortlessly
marries the modern with archaeological sites and cultures long since
passed. Here you will discover a world of alluring beaches, fragrant
mountain peaks, vineyards and ancient ruins that cant help but
stir the imagination, an almost carefree paradise where a sense of
timelessness is magnified by the beauty of the landscape.
Cyprus has for many years
been a popular holiday destination and in recent years added golf
to the list of the many and varied attractions the island has to
offer. The hotels we feature and the islands 3 golf courses
(more are planned) are in the south west of the island and all within
easy reach of the international airport and resort of Paphos.
With a temperate winter climate
and a great choice of reasonably priced 4 and 5 * hotels Cyprus
is now a viable alternative to the more crowded winter golf destinations
of Spain and Portugal.

Located
approximately 20 kms from Paphos and high up on a plateau some 900
feet above sea level is the Aphrodite Hills Resort course. Five years
in the making, it follows the scenic contours of two plateaux with
its challenging fairways cutting a swathe through and over dramatic
ravines. Olive and carob groves border the course and there are spectacular
views of the Mediterranean Sea from several holes. The newest course
on the island and regarded as the best, Aphrodite Hills measures just
short of 7000 yards from the tips and whilst it is great fun to play
only the lower handicap golfer should contemplate playing from the
back tees. The 7th hole is the signature hole, a par 3 with a steep
drop across a ravine onto a large green nestling amongst some olive
trees. Buggies are necessary (and compulsory) at Aphrodite Hills.

in 1996 the course at Secret Valley is located approximately 18 kms
east of Paphos very near to "Petra tou Romiuo", the legendary
birthplace of Aphrodite, the Goddess of Love. Close to the Aphrodite
course, Secret Valley is situated in a picturesque scenic valley surrounded
by mature trees and beautiful natural rock formations. Always popular
with visiting players in terms of sheer playability and enjoyment,
two or even three rounds at Secret Valley probably wont be enough. |

| Only about a
20minute drive from the town of Paphos, Tsada opened in 1994 and was
the first grass course on the island. Perched high in the hills at
around 1500 feet above sea level in the grounds of a 12th century
monastery, Tsada has some fantastic scenery and whilst it might lack
some of the quality of the islands other two courses the average golfer
might find that this has been their most enjoyable round of the holiday. |
