Costa
de la Luz Introduction
The Costa de la Luz is in fact part of Andalusia stretching from
Cadiz in the east to the border with Portugal in the west. Mass
tourism has failed to spread its web as far as this southwest corner
of Spain, though Spanish holiday makers have been enjoying its diverse
delights for many years.
This particular stretch of
coast is best avoided if youre seeking a 24-hour holiday resort
geared to the demands of the masses; this is a destination for those
seeking something different from their Spanish holiday.
The special charm of this
"Costa" lies in its virgin, windswept beaches, unspoilt
towns and villages, dramatic sunsets, huge nature reserves and some
of the best seafood in Spain. There are six golf courses that we
recommend and the green fees are very competitive, compared to the
more expensive courses on the nearby Costa del Sol.
The two most popular ways of getting to the Costa
de la Luz are either fly into Faro in Portugal and take the 35-minute
drive across the border at Ayamonte or alternatively into Seville,
which is just over an hours drive away.
With direct flights available from most regional airports, average
temperatures during November through March around or above 60¡F,
and six to seven hours of sunshine daily, the Costa de la Luz is
a good all year round golf holiday destination.

west of the town of Huelva and adjacent to the Atlantic Coast, Bellavista
is one of the oldest golf clubs in Spain The club is a members club
and has more of a British club feel about it than most Spanish courses
do. With wide undulating fairways, well-manicured greens and some
fine scenery a round at Bellavista is usually an enjoyable one. |
The course at
Isla Canela has been carefully integrated with the surrounding coastal
features, winding through an area of tidal salt marsh. You will find
the course not only an enjoyable golfing challenge, but also a fascinating
nature walk. The course is largely flat, so it will provide a leisurely
walk for those who prefer not to slog up hill and down dale, yet also
provides the longest piece of golf terrain in the area. A very enjoyable
course and comes highly recommended. |

has to be one of the best kept golf secrets around, situated in the
middle of the El Coto de Donana National Park in an area of outstanding
natural beauty close to the Atlantic Ocean. The course is completely
unspoilt and will have no development to ruin the outstanding scenery.
A testing course, with some challenging holes, watch out for the famed
island green and the huge lake which comes into play on several holes. |
Another quality
designed 27-holes built to the highest of specifications, offering
good variety in the three loops. The three nines vary between pine
tree-lined fairways, with small fast greens, to cliff top stretches
with spectacular views across the Atlantic to wide-open fairways and
large greens. An enjoyable day out for golfers of all abilities. |

the 8th green to the 9th tee takes you across a 650ft pontoon with
spectacular views over the salt marshes below. |
Eight
